Meet the Teacher Mrs Fanthorpe

The final year of primary school at The Radstone is a wonderful roller coaster of hard work, exciting events, challenges and fun! We work very hard on our learning, with interesting topics like World War II in History and Evolution and Inheritance in Science. We continue to focus on Maths and English every day, building on our knowledge from previous years and developing our skills. In Writing, we are building our skills so that we can write confidently in a variety of genres over different subject, preparing us for secondary school. In May, we take our SATs tests, with our dedicated staff supporting each child to achieve their full potential. After SATs are finished, we then go on a residential trip, focused on outdoor activities, put on a production and spend time getting ready for the transition to secondary.
In Year 6, we pride ourselves on being role models. We take on responsibilities such as being House Captains, Play Leaders and Lunch Buddies, and in our open days for new Reception students, we show prospective families round the school. We grow in responsibility, independence and maturity as the year goes on. By the end of the school year, we are all proud of our achievements and our progress; we are able to look back on a successful year; we have grown in maturity and resilience; and we look forward to all the new challenges that the future will bring.
