Meet the Teacher – Mr McGillivray
Mrs Rigby
Year 5 is a wonderful and exciting stage of your child's learning journey here at The Radstone, with the transition from Lower to Upper Key Stage 2 well planned for and the challenges ahead considered and accommodated for to support all children.
As children join Year 5, they are encouraged to take on increased responsibilities to develop their independence and resilience in not only their learning but in all other aspects of their daily lives too. They will be part of a comprehensive and engaging curriculum designed to expand their understanding and skills across a range of subjects, with a focus on the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.
All children will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their critical thinking, improve their communication and boost their confidence, all through promoting independent decision making and thought processes. Additionally, they will also have the opportunity to join numerous extracurricular clubs, participate in inspiring educational trips, (with a highlight being a trip to the coast) and take on solo roles within school to support the growth and development of the school's community overall.
Every child will always be encouraged to 'be the best they can be' which is supported by committed and enthusiastic staff, ensuring and prioritising that well-being and social and emotional development is paramount in all they do. Dedicated teaching staff will be there every step of the way in your child's learning journey to ensure they maximise their opportunities and experiences and are prepared for the final year when going onto Year 6.
We very much look forward to a year filled with discovery and growth to make some of the most memorable moments with your child in Year 5.
